Reflection !

Hello everyone.

I feel like I haven’t been here in a long time to talk to you about my writing experience but here I am!

When I started this assignment I was excited to talk about music, because I love music but once I got to the final stages of this paper I hated it. I just didnt want to look at the lyrics of this song anymore. I think I was more frustrated with the fact that I really didnt know what I wanted to discuss. Both sides of the story could be so strong. The song I wrote about was Pink’s Dear Mr. President. For those who don’t know the song it is an extremely liberal song in which Pink attacks former President Bush in the decisions that he made during his presidency. She directly asks him questions, even asking him to walk with her like they are just two people in the world and no one is better than the other.

What made this song difficult to write is if I should focus on the politics within her actual song or the politics within pop music directly and how this affects the media. I decided the later choice, discussing how pop music has always been influenced by the world and politics. Not only the music but the culture of pop music is dramatically affected by the politics of the war.

I think this is because everyone can relate to something that is going on in the world within politics. Not one country is perfect or has the perfect government so they always have problems where people can relate to them. The world is closely related to music because in most cases some type of art form is the way that people express their feelings.

Overall, I think that this assignment was worth doing but it was not necessarily the most fun I have had doing a topic.

  1. It wasn't the most fun for me either, but I feel confident in my paper as you should. It sounds like you did a lot of thinking about your topic, which showed because it sounded great. I know your paper was wonderful!
